Wellington: Team India captain Virat Kohli continues to perform poorly with the bat. Kohli flopped in both innings of the first Test against New Zealand. After being dismissed for 2 in the first innings, he was dismissed for 19 in the second innings on the third day of the match on Sunday. With this, Kohli has failed to score a century in the 20th consecutive international innings.

This is Kohli’s worst record since 2014 without a century. Earlier, Kohli could not score a single century in 24 consecutive innings in 2011 and 25 consecutive international innings in 2014. Virat Kohli made his last century in November 2019 while playing a 136-run Test innings against Bangladesh. Since then, he has scored just 6 half-centuries in his last 20 international innings.

Not only the century but even the half-century figures give the indication of Kohli’s poor form. Kohli has scored only 6 fifties in the last 19 international innings, he had also scored 6 in 25 innings in 2014 and 4 fifties in 24 innings in 2011. Virat Kohli has failed to make an impact on this tour of New Zealand. He has managed only 201 runs in nine international innings on this tour with the help of just one half-century. Kohli made his only half-century during the three-match ODI series.
