Kolkata: West Bengal Transport Minister Suvendu Adhikari today resigned from the Mamata Banerjee led Trinamool Congress Government.
The rebel TMC leader, hailing from East Midnapore, yesterday put in his papers as chairman of the Hooghly River Bridge Commissioners (HRBC), fuelling speculation about his future roadmap.
Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar tweeted that Mr Suvendu Adhikari’s resignation letter had been forwarded to him.
‘Today at 1:05 pm a resignation letter of Mr. Suvendu Adhikari from office as minister addressed to Hon’ble Chief Minister has been forwarded to me. The issue will be addressed from constitutional perspective,’ Mr Dhankhar said.
‘Ministers are appointed by the Governor under Article 164 of the Constitution on the advice of the Chief Minister. ‘Mr. Suvendu Adhikari resignation as minister @MamataOfficial
has been forwarded to me for information. There will be adherence to due constitutional process,’ he further said.
