Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana will extended till Diwali and Chhath Puja: PM

Expressed unhappiness over people flouting social distancing norms

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation today amid Corona crisis and escalation with China on the border. At the beginning of his address, the Prime Minister told the countrymen that while fighting against the Corona global pandemic, we are now entering Unlock-2. With this, we are also entering the season in which cold, cough, fever etc. are increased. I pray you all to take care of yourself in such times. If we compare deaths from corona, we are in a stable state.

The PM said, ‘Today I am going to make an important announcement related to this. During our rainy season, more work is done mainly in the agricultural sector. Now see the festival starts as soon as the month of Savan. This time of festivals also increases the need and also increases the expenditure. We have now decided that the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana will now be extended till Diwali and Chhath Puja i.e. the end of November.

During these five months, 80 cr people will be given 5 kg wheat or 5 kg rice free by the government. Apart from this, one kg of gram will also be given free to each family. 90 thousand crore rupees will be spent in this scheme. If you add the expenses for the last three months, then it becomes Rs 1.50 lakh crore.

PM Modi said that the timely lockdown and other decisions have saved the lives of millions of people in India, but we are also seeing that since the unlocked forest in the country, personal and social carelessness has increased. Earlier, we were very cautious about washing the mask for two yards and washing hands several times a day, but today when we need more vigilance, increasing carelessness is a cause for concern.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday expressed unhappiness over people flouting social distancing norms and not wearing masks in public places, saying “irresponsible and negligent behaviour has been on the rise during Unlock 1.” While addressing the nation, PM Modi urged people to follow the guidelines issued by the government to tackle the coronavirus disease. The prime minister appealed to people to wear masks, sanitise their hands regularly to help contain the COVID-19 spread.

As the fight against coronavirus shifts to Unlock 2, the PM asked everyone to follow regulations with same seriousness as during Lockdown While asking everyone to follow the health guidelines regarding coronavirus, PM Modi said, “be it head of a village or prime minister, nobody is above rules.”

PM Modi said, “Timely lockdown, other decisions saved many lives, but since Unlock 1 has begun, people have shown negligence in practising social distancing guidelines and hygiene rules.

“Earlier, during the lockdown period, we were more cautious about the use of masks, people were maintaining ‘do gaz doori’ and washing hands several times a day for 20 seconds. However, it has been noticed that people are not following the guidelines seriously now,” PM said.

“People will have to show the same seriousness during the unlocking phase. We must take extra care in the containment zones,” PM Modi added.
