New Delhi: Phase III trial of covid-19 vaccine on human body, developed by Oxford University and prepared by Indian Institute of Serum, will begin next week at Sassoon General Hospital, Pune. Dr. Muralidhar Tambe, dean of the government-run Sassoon Hospital, gave this information on Saturday. He said that the third phase of covishield vaccine trial will begin in Sassoon Hospital next week. It is likely to start from Monday. Some volunteers have already come forward for the test. About 150 to 200 people will be vaccinated.
He said that from Saturday, the hospital started enrolling volunteers for the trial. Those who want to volunteer for the vaccine can contact the hospital. Phase II trials were held at Bharti Vidyapeeth Medical College and KEM Hospital.
SII has entered into an agreement with the British Swedish pharma company AstraZeneca for manufacturing the covid-19 vaccine candidate, developed by Oxford University.
