Rajasthani folk music and their traditional dances are woven like fabric into every aspect of people’s lives in our country. ShowCase events bring to you the most unforgettable and lifetime experience by taking you through a journey of the true soul of Rajasthani Folk music. After an astounding success in Mumbai, ShowCase events brings the second edition of the “Sounds From the Desert” to Delhi on April 26th, 2019 at the Sirifort Auditorium.

The show will create a mesmerizing musical experience of sounds from the desert with lead vocals by Kutle Khan, the amazing king of Kartaal and Rajasthani folk music. The Desi Nagaras from the famous Nathulal Solanki and family of Pushkar, will be creating the feel and environment of Folk culture from the land of love,  the sweetness of the Khamaycha and the Sindhi Saarangi will be adding melody to the show. This show will also have  16 more musicians from the legendary and traditional families of Rajasthan. The Solankis of Pushkar with their Nagaras, Dare Khan from Jaisalmer with the Khamayacha, the saarangi, morchang, bhapang, Algooza, dholak, by the families from Bikaner, Barmer, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur and Jaipur. The famous Rajasthani Folk singer Kutle Khan along with Anita Kanwar Dangi will bring together all the different musicians with their different art forms, along with the ghoomar, for a live performance at this show.

 

Kulte Khan, a multi-talented folk musician, has performed on various stages across the world; He embodies the rich melodic and sophisticated rhythmic traditions of Rajasthani folk music. This master of the kartaal began playing music at the age of 8, learning every instrument he could get his hands on. A singer as well as a musician, Khan not only plays the dholak, khartal, bhapang, harmonium, sarangi, the lot, proving that there’s no percussion he can’t play, he also sings soulful renditions. He accompanied Amit Trivedi in the famous Paddy Fields festival 2018.

Nathulal Solanki, the maestro, hails from the prestigious Pushkar Sangeet Gharana. He has been playing the Nagadas for several years now, performing all over India and has also showcased his talent at numerous festivals all over the world. They were the sole artists at the Brahma temple in Pushkar and they brought the nagaras from the temple to the stage with classical fusion. In his growinup years he also mastered in Kuchamani Khayal and staged it all across the globe. He has performed with artists such as Sivamani, Prem Joshua, Indian Ocean, Susheela Raman, and many International artists too.

Nagada also called as kettledrum is a conical drum played with the Surnai and Nafeeri(the two sticks), holds a significant place amongst Rajasthan’s folk instruments.

 

Commenting on the Show Kulte Khan Said” I am very happy to be a part of “Sounds From The Desert”. It gives me immense pleasure to show our culture from Rajasthan to different parts of the country.  Our first show in Mumbai was a great success and now our group have to come to the capital of the country. And I would like to thank Showcase events for giving us this opportunity to share with you the true essence of Rajasthan. 

 

This is the second edition of Sounds from the desert in Delhi, the premier show was at Royal Opera House in Mumbai. The show brought together a melange of mind blowing artists performing under one roof. Many in the audience were stunned by the display of authentic indigenous musical instruments like the wooden clapper khartal, the bowed kamayacha and the double flute algooza. In their bright ghaghras, the sapera ghoomar dancers added to the magic.
